3 Bedroom Improvements That Can Help You Sell Your Home

When you’re selling your home, your Knoxville REALTOR® will walk through and point out areas that could use a little TLC. However, in the meantime, you may want to consider making these three bedroom improvements that can help you sell faster and for more money.

3 Bedroom Improvements That Can Help You Sell Your Home

You don’t have to redo your entire bedroom to make a splash with buyers. Often, just a few updates and upgrades can do the trick. Check out these ideas:

  1. Update your lighting
  2. Clear out closet space
  3. Upgrade your bedding

Here’s a closer look at each.

Bedroom Improvement #1: Update Your Lighting

Head to your favorite home improvement store and check out all the lighting options there – in many cases, it’s simple to DIY a new light fixture. Choose something that matches the tone of the bedroom; nothing too over-the-top, because it’s supposed to be a space for relaxation.

While you’re at it, invest in LED bulbs; they help rooms feel brighter, and they’re more energy efficient than standard light bulbs are. This brightness can make your room appear larger than it did before because it minimizes shadows, and that means prospective buyers can appreciate the room’s actual size.

Bedroom Improvement #2: Clear Out Closet Space

Empty out at least a third of the items in your closet and put them into storage. The last thing you want buyers to see (well, maybe not the last thing – but this is pretty bad) is an overstuffed closet that will make them feel as if there won’t be enough space to hold all their own belongings.

Make sure you empty shelves and take everything from the floor, as well. If you do store things on your closet shelves, ensure that all your possessions are neatly organized. The key here is to keep your closet clear so it appears roomy.

Bedroom Improvement #3: Upgrade Your Bedding

Invest in new bedding that makes your bedroom appear cozy and comfortable. Consider a fluffy, white comforter or a white duvet cover that you only use when buyers come to tour your home, as well as a sufficient number of pillows (two is too few, but six is probably too many, so go for a happy medium). Think about adding a plush throw to the bottom of your bed, too – the idea is to show buyers that your bedroom is a relaxing haven.
